IV. Travel Notes

To support sustainability, many hotels in Hong Kong do not provide disposable toiletries free of charge. Guests are therefore encouraged to bring their own personal care items. Under Hong Kong’s current plastic-control measures, hotels also generally do not provide certain disposable plastic items and bottled water free of charge.

Water dispensers will be available at the venue, and HKBU will provide reusable water bottles for participants. Guests are also welcome to bring their own reusable cutlery to help reduce waste.

Hong Kong has a convenient public transport system, and first-time visitors may find the Octopus card especially useful for transport and small everyday purchases. Many places also accept credit cards, WeChat Pay, Alipay, and other electronic payment methods, though some smaller local shops may still prefer cash. Bringing a small amount of Hong Kong dollars is therefore recommended.

Please also note that retailers in Hong Kong generally do not provide shopping bags for free. If needed, plastic shopping bags are usually charged separately, so bringing your own reusable bag is recommended.

For dining near campus, Kowloon City is a popular nearby area known for Thai food and dessert shops. Kai Tak / AIRSIDE is another convenient option with a wider range of dining choices.
